By getting some stock into shops on 6th April, Asus managed to be the first company to have an Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) tablet on sale, with its Eee Pad Transformer .

It also appears that Asus is now the first company to run out of stock completely, with the tablet unlikely to be available now until 1st June, according to the Amazon UK Eee Pad Transformer page .

Asus has yet to confirm the next on-sale date, but we've just been told that there will be stock before Amazon's estimate. New Eee Pad Transformer and Eee Pad Transformer bundles (those with keyboard docks) are on their way and will arrive in the UK either next week or the week after depending on customs. We've been told that there'll be enough stock to cater for all of the major retailers, including Amazon, PC World, Comet and eBuyer.

Asus has said that the initial stock sold out due to unexpected demand.

"Due to the fact the initial demand has been far beyond our expectations, the first 2-3 batches have entirely sold out much quicker than we planned," said the company on the Asus Facebook page .

It's good news it won't be out of stock for long, as the tablet looks genuinely good. It has a Tegra 2 processor, 1,280x800 resolution screen and Android 3.0. With the optional keyboard, the tablet costs just £430, making it significantly cheaper than the Motorola Xoom, the only other Android 3.0 tablet available in the UK at the moment.

We've got an Eee Pad Transformer in the building right now, so we'll bring you our full review of it in the next couple of days to find out if this is one tablet that's worth waiting for.
